Masking films for Photo resists
Processes that are scaled down to equipment with features on the millimeter- and micron-scale can benefit from improvements in precision, accuracy, and reagent volume reduction. Photolithographic technologies have dominated industrial production to create features of this size. Standard photolithography, on the other hand, uses an expensive exposure system with a high-intensity collimated UV light source, a challenging dispensing technique (such as spin coating or spray coating), and toxic photoresists and solvents.
To avoid feature damage from ambient particles, all of the aforementioned equipment must be kept in an expensive cleanroom environment. Therefore, there is a sizable technological barrier that prevents non-expert end users from creating and discovering new uses for microdevices.
